Aleksander Damjanovic

(Chairman of the Committee on Economy of Montenegro)

Biography

Aleksandar Damjanovic is Chairman of the Committee on Economy of Montenegro and Member of the Administrative Committee of the Parliament. He was previously Member of the Committee on Political System, Judiciary and Administration of the Parliament of Montenegro.

Academic Career

Mr Damjanovic studied Economics in the Department of Business Economics in Podgorica from 1990 to1992. He continued his post-graduate studies at the Faculty of Economics in Belgrade – Department for Banking and Financial Management, 1992-1995. In 1996, Mr Damjanovic Obtained a MA degree in economics at the Faculty of Economics in Belgrade.

Political Career

Aleksandar Damjanovic covered positions of advisor for financial system and credit support to the economy at the Ministry of Finance of the Government of Montenegro from 1992 to 1994.

From 1995 to 2002 he served as an independent foreign exchange inspector in controls for the Federal Foreign Exchange Inspectorate in the Ministry of Finance of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia Government. Mr Damjanovic also held the position of Chairperson of the National Committee on Financing the Referendum Campaign.

From 2003 to 2007 he served as Secretary of SNP MP Group in the Parliament of Montenegro and Economic Advisor. 

Since 2007 Aleksandar Damjanovic has been a member of the Parliament of Montenegro, and since 2011 he has been Chairperson of the SNP MP Group in the Parliament of Montenegro and a Member of the Main Board of SNP Montenegro.

Mr Damjanovic was previously Member of the Committee on Political System, Judiciary and Administration of the Parliament of Montenegro. He is actually Chairperson of the Committee on Economy, Finance and Budget of the Parliament of Montenegro and Member of the Administrative Committee of the Parliament.

Aleksandar Damjanovic has participated in a number of seminars and courses on European integration.
