Denmark is a responsible, global actor and contributes actively to the solution of global challenges. It is one of the world’s leading countries when it comes to sustainable development.
Denmark is at the forefront of the fight for an international set of laws and universal human rights. Denmark takes responsibility for contributing towards global peace and stability with humanitarian efforts, international military operations also at the tip of the spear in the prevention of terrorism and radicalisation and as support to fragile states.

One of the most important aspects of Danish foreign policy is Nordic-Baltic cooperation. In 2015 Denmark coordinated the Nordic-Baltic cooperation. The coordinator organizes and hosts most of the meetings and activities during the year. Furthermore, the coordinating country suggests focus areas for the cooperation which will be pursued at the high-level and expert meetings during the year. The NB8 focus areas in 2015 were energy security, media in relation to Russian-speakers, regional security and the conflict in Ukraine as well as the Eastern Partnership.
