The exhibition of “Face à Picasso” in Morocco is taking place from July 17th to the 31st at the museum of Mohammed VI in Rabat.

Morocco welcomed for the first time an exhibition about the renowned painter Pablo Picasso. This exhibition serves as the most important exhibition of modern art in Africa and for this important cultural event the Princess Lalla Salma took part in the inauguration.

“Face à Picasso” was organised for the project “Picasso – Méditerranée 2017-2019” by the Picasso museum in Paris. This exhibition is made in cooperation by the Fondation nationale des musées of Morocco and the support of French Institutes. More than 60 institutions imagined together a program under the masterpiece of Pablo Picasso called “Mediterranean Landscape”.

This cultural event put the light on the different variations of the artist, from the experimental cubism and classicism of the 1920s to the blue period of the 1950s.

The exchange of arts between museums is an important factor of intellectual and cultural diffusion. This exhibition gives the opportunity to discover a hundred artworks from the collection of the Picasso-Paris museum. It’s a cultural experience in hope to make the two borders of the Mediterranean closer.
