Biography

Ambassador Martine Schommer was born in 1961 and received a degree in Slavonic Philology and Sinology from the Institute for Oriental Languages and Civilization at Université Paris III-Sorbonne Nouvelle. From 1987 to 1991 she worked in the Department for Economic Affairs at the Foreign Ministry, and between 1991 and 1995 was responsible “Foreign Relations” and “Institutional Issues” in the Antici-Gorup in representation to the European Union.

From 1995 to 1998, Her Excellency served as a diplomatic advisor to the Prime Minister, followed by an ambassadorial post in China with joint accreditation for Singapore, Vietnam and Mongolia. Before entering her current post, Ambassador Schommer was the Director of Political Affairs at the Foreign Ministry and Permanent Representative to the EU. She speaks French, German, English, Russian and Chinese
