Ambassador of Pakistan to Germany

Biography

Shahid Kamal served Pakistan as a Desk Officer for India at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Islamabad and then as Second Secretary at the Pakistani Embassy in Paris before moving to New York as the Second Secretary of Pakistan’s mission to the UN there. From 1984 to 1986, he was Consul of Pakistan in New York and then from 1986 to 1987 First Secretary of the Pakistan’s UN mission. He worked as a senior aide in Pakistan’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs and then as Joint Secretary for Foreign Affairs in the Prime Minister’s Office from 1991 to 1994; then, after serving as Director of the Political Department at the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC), he worked as Ambassador to Sweden, Finland, Estonia and Latvia (2001-2005). After two more years at the Pakistani Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Kamal was announced as Ambassador to Germany.

Kamal was educated at the Government College University in Lahore, as well as the University of London and the Institut d’Administration Publique in Paris, in Economics, International Relations and Diplomacy. He holds a Masters degree in Political Science and History from the University of the Punjab, Lahore.
