Heritage Day of Mongolia

On 2 - 4 May 2016 the Embassy of Mongolia and the World Bank Group held the first time the ‘Heritage Day of Mongolia’ in Washington, D.C. US. The cultural promotion event was held in the headquarters of World Bank Group. The highlight of the event was the Solo Art Exhibition “Eternal Sky” by an artist Ganbaatar Choimbol and during the opening ceremony Mongolian artists performed Mongolian traditional and western classical music and dance performances and the guests of the event had the chance of to enjoy Mongolian Cuisine during the three days.

The opening speeches were given by Altangerel Bulgaa and Alternate Executive Director of the World Bank, Jason Allford. In addition to these two influential characters the event gathered also other important guests: Susan A. Thornton, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary and the officials from the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific affairs of the Department of State, Mongolian community in the US, and other guests from the International organizations.

At his speech, Ambassador Altangerel Bulgaa applauded the World Bank Group and its professional’s tireless efforts and passion to contribute to our better future: “Though Mongolia currently experiences some difficulties due to the steep market price decline of mineral products as well as the other internal and external factors, I am confident that we can overcome such hindering as we did in the past with the support of our partners, including the World Bank and International Monetary Fund”.

The World Bank Group was established in 1944. There are two main goals set for it to be achieved by 2013: The first goal is to end extreme poverty and second goal is to promote shared prosperity. The World Bank is a vital source of financial and technical assistance to developing countries around the world.
