Kenya’s Win in World Travel Awards

Kenya’s tourism celebrates excellence across different sectors of the African travel and tourism industry

Neptunez Band, Kigali’s hottest jazz and live music ensemble consists of diverse players from the East Africa Region. Rwandans, a Ugandan keyboardist, Congolese guitarist and a Kenyan violinist, and are fronted by Ugandan sax maestro Herbert Rock.

The World Travel Awards serves to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the global travel and tourism industry. Kenya participated in the World Travel Awards (WTA) that was held on 10th October 2017 in Rwanda. Kenya won awards in the various categories, including; the aviation sector, Africa’s leading national park, Africa’s leading beach destination and others. The Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) was voted Africa’s top Tourism board for the 6th year running.

The ‘Africa World Travel Awards Grand Tour 2017’, were compered by CNBC Africa presenter and producer George Ndirangu and passionate DJ and media personality Makeda Mahadeo. The entertainment was provided by Inganzo Ngari, Rwanda’s most acclaimed traditional dance group, and the Neptunez band.

Winners from the event will go forward to complete in the WTA Grand Final, this year taking place at the JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort & Spa in Vietnam on the evening of 10th December.

Tourism and travel continues to be a major vehicle, and contributor to cultural diplomacy in Kenya, especially, as it struggles to reassure the globe of its peace and stability despite the challenges of terrorism and the negative effects of tribal politics.
