On 24th November at 7pm, the Venezuelan pianist Clara Rodriguez will play in the Bolivar Hall at London’s Venezuelan chamber music venue with the Tango Opera Duo to remember the centenary of her compatriot, composer Antonio Estévez. The music festival will offer pieces by some of the most influential musicians of Latin American classical music, including the Argentine composer Alberto Ginastera, who also celebrates his centenary this year.

ILAMS is the first cultural society interested in the divulgation and study of music from Latin America in the UK. ILAMS is welcoming everyone interested in Latin American culture and in classical music to participate in the Echoes Festival that will take place in London this autumn to celebrate classical music from Latin America.

Amongst the musicians performing at the autumn edition of Echoes will be Clara Rodriguez, from Venezuela, who is one of the most notable musicians in Latin America. According to Antonio Estévez, Clara Rodriguez is “a poet of the piano”. Meanwhile, the Tango Opera Duo is considered to be “a duo of almost telepathic consonance”. There will not only be musicians from Latin America but also from Spain and Portugal.

The piano concert directed by Clara Rodriguez will be dedicated to some pieces by Antonio Estévez, one of the most important Venezuelan composers of the 20th century, who is known for his songs such as “mediodía en el llano” and “Cantata criolla”. It will also be dedicated to Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos and Cuban composer Ignacio Cervantes.

Echoes Festival will taking place throughout November in London's most prestigious classical music venues. The festival takes its name and inspiration from the Cuban writer Roberto Fernández Retamar, who challenged Eurocentric cultural views of Latin America.

The aim of the festival organized by ILAMS is to create a bridge between the Latin American culture and the United Kingdom. The embassy of Venezuela in the United Kingdom together with ILAMS invites everyone to join this event and embrace Latin American culture in form of classical music to create knowledge and strengthen the connection between countries.
