Biography

Prof. Dr. Tine Pars has been the Rector of the University of Greenland since 2009. Her academic and professional career has been focused on raising awareness on environmental sustainability issues. Ms. Pars is a member of a number of environmental sustainability committees.

Academic Career

Prof. Dr. Pars trained as an experimental biologist specializing in human nutrition at Odense University in 1992. Her research has primarily been focused on the consumption of traditional Greenlandic food. Dr. Pars was a Ph.D student affiliated with the Department of Greenland Research at the Danish Institute for Clincal Epidemiology and the University of Copenhagen.

Career

Prof. Dr. Pars was initially employed by the government of Greenland as a campaign manager in the Health Promotion and Prevention Department. She has also spent time self-employed as well as working on television programs that raise awareness of environmental sustainability. She has also worked as a quality manager for a food business and as a Human Resources manager at KNI. Ms. Pars was appointed as Rector of Ilisimatisarfik in January 2009. She also sits on a number of committees such as Nordforsk, Dudo, the Poul Brandt Fund, Transparency Greenland and Greenland’s Trade.
