Biography

Prof. Giovanni Puglisi is the Rector of the University of Languages and Media at IULM in Italy. He is also President of the Italian National Commission for UNESCO and Foundation Italy.

Academic Career

Prof. Puglisi studied his Bachelors degree at the University of Palermo, graduating in 1968.

Career

Shortly after graduating, Prof. Puglisi became the assistant chair of the History of Philosophy department. He became a professor in 1976 and became dean of the Faculty of Education in 1979. During this period he was also the secretary-general of the National Union of Universities until 1994. In 1997 he ran against Silvio Berlusconi for the position of mayor of Palermo. In 1999 Mr. Puglisi was appointed vice-president of Fondazione Banco di Sicilia. He was appointed as Rector of the Free University of Languages and Communication IULM, Milan in 2001 and since December 2011, has been the rector of the University of Enna.
