Didier Reynders Promotes the New Online Platform

In a recent speech, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Didier Reynders put his support behind a new online platform which focuses on Belgian customs and traditions. As revealed by its tagline “People, stories, facts and figures”, the new site intends to showcase the many assets of the country: creativity, diversity, sound values and coming talent, trends and prospects.

The website also gives special attention to well-known Belgians and to various events. There is also a section called “did you know”, the aim of which is to discover compatriots achievements or anecdotes about Belgium. There is space also for a gallery of photos and videos, with some additional statistical information.

The new site is part of the development of public diplomacy of the FPS Foreign Affairs. It is intended to support both the Belgian embassies and consulates abroad in their promotional efforts of Belgium, and to give more visibility to the general public about what is happening in Belgium and about all that the country can offer in the most divers fields.

The site can be accessed in three languages; English, French and Dutch. New articles will be published weekly, and they can be also shared on social media. The new website in only the first step, ultimately the SPF plans to create a Focus on Belgium newsletter based on the content of the site, a new tool that will be part of the communication strategy positions abroad.

All institutions, organizations and individuals that have news or information that might enrich “Focus on Belgium”, can contribute to the site by sending a contribution, a photo or a video material to the official e-mail address
