Biography

The Hon. Luis Antonio Hierro López is a Uruguayan political figure, specifically the former Vice President of Uruguay. A post he held from 2000 to 2005 under the Presidency of Jorge Battle.

Career

Mr. Hierro López was the thirteenth person to hold the office of Vice President of Uruguay. In 2005 he was then succeeded. From his succession until 2009 he was Deputy Secretary General of the Colorado Party and was proclaomed presidential candidate ahead of the primaries of the Colorado Party in 2009.

Publications

The Hon. Luis Hierro López has published three books; Battle, Democracy and State Reform, Eastern Band, 1976; Thresholds and locks, an essay on the Uruguay editions Trilce, 1993; and El Pueblo said NO, a chronicle of the 1980 plebiscite, Ediciones El País, 2005.
