The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro Moros, on behalf of the Government and people of Venezuela expressed his happiness on the occasion of the forty-second anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

China and Venezuela formally established diplomatic relations on June 28th, 1974, after the two nations agreed to a settlement over the issue of Taiwan. Successive governments of Venezuela have recognised the indivisible nature of the Chinese state. Throughout the 42 years since then, bilateral ties have been successful in many ways, thanks to the concerted efforts of governments and public figures of various social sectors of the two countries.

Relations between the People's Republic of China and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela are guided by the principles of solidarity, complementarity and mutual benefit for the people of both countries, within the framework of the comprehensive strategic partnership achieved in 2014 by the President Xi Jinping and President Nicolas Maduro.

Commander Hugo Chavez, architect and key driver of the strategic relations with China, said that the center of gravity of the world had shifted to Beijing: "Today, China is certainly a key element in the defense of peace in this world, stalked by imperialist powers who refuse the consolidation of a multipolar and multicenter world, which is the only way to ensure stability, justice and peace on the planet ".

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela reiterated its intention to continue deepening the extraordinary relations with the People's Republic of China, built on cooperation and mutual benefit on both bilateral and multilateral levels. We will continue joining efforts in the defense of world peace and stability, in the effort to build a multipolar and multicenter world with respect to the balance of nature.
