Biography

The Hon. Mirko Cvetkovic was the Prime Minister of Serbia from 2008 to 2012 as well as Minister of Finance from 2007 to 2008 and again from 2011 to 2012.

Academic Career

The Hon. Mirko Cvetkovic studied at the Faculty of Economics at the University of Belgrade. He went on to study an MComm and PhD.

Career

The Hon. Mirko Cvetkovic began his career at the Mining Institute where he worked for 10 years before working for the Economics Institute and then the advisory and research firm CES Mecon. In the 1980s he was an external consultant for the World Bank and worked on the United Nations Development Programme in Somalia. After the overthrow of the Milošević regime, he worked as Deputy Minister of Economy and Privatization. From 2003 to 2004 he was Director of the Privatization Agency. He then served as Minister of Finance from May 200 to July 2008. In June 2008 he was named as the new Prime Minister.
